The Department of Health and Human Services is stepping up efforts to reduce teen pregnancies through education and prevention programs.
On Friday, the department announced its 10 million dollar research plan, to determine what programs work best while educating teens about sex.
According to a statement, the department will partner up with two outside research firms, Mathematica Policy and RTI international to identify new ideas and models.
The project will build on a program created by the Obama administration which taught safe sex practices, and will instead encourage teens to practice abstinence.
The White House will cut grants from the Obama-era program next year, saving the government 200 million dollars over two years.
